Here is a screenshot so that way you never have to type "yes" that many times ever again.

I was on a computer, so all I had to do was type "yes " once, copy it, and the hold Ctrl V.

Haha. The bit about the Range Rover is accurate. Let's hope the bit about the Ferrari doesn't come true.

Thank you! Can't believe I missed that!

Thank you!
That is AWESOME. I need to get advice from Doug.
I literally fell asleep thinking about the 360 last night. I realized that it's very unlikely that I'll be able to afford a 6MT R8, 6MT Gallardo, 6MT F430, 458, 458 successor or Lambo Huricane (I know I spelled it wrong) within the next few years. It's too hard to plan for 5 years out. I wanted to set a goal to accomplish within 3 years to give me motivation to work hard. And you never know when you'll be hit by a bus, get in a fatal wreck, or get an aggressive form of cancer. So I MUST have a mid-engine semi-exotic before I die. And I always need to find ways to motivate myself to keep working hard so I don't get complacent.
I realized that an F355 or 360 might be the only car that would be attainable in the next few years. I like the F355 more but I have concerns about how small it is. I'm only 6' tall but I almost feel too tall in the F430 with power seats. The F355 would be even worse.
And the 360 is loathed by a lot of enthusiasts for being fugly and slow (for a modern Ferrari). Which seems to really be hurting its value. I've seen 360s for way less than any of the cars I listed. And it seems easier to find a clean and reasonably priced 6MT 360 than a 6MT F430 or a 6MT Gallardo. The F1 transmission was only in its second generation when the 360 came out so I think a lot of buyers avoided it out of fear.

That is awesome planning. I love the look of the 360 (especially for the prices they're at now). I'd much rather have the Gallardo, but those are almost impossible to find with the 6MT. I feel like if you wait another year or so (and don't get cancer), an R8 would be very attainable. If you really want a 360 now, you better jump on one because Doug will push the value of them way up lol.
![]() 01/24/2014 at 21:27 |
|
Also I read that if you're buying a Gallardo you really want a 2006 or later. The first two years suffer from a lot of understeer. And the prices reflect that. Pretty much any 6MT 360 should drive the same.
Maybe the R8 V8 6MT will become available. Right now they are a lot more than some 360s are. The R8 is known for being reliable and that helps its purchase price. I once saw it on a top 10 list of cars that depreciated the least. I think it was either 8th or 9th.
Haha Doug might push up values, unless he has issues and hates it!
Maintenance costs doesn't scare me cause my Dad maintains his Ferrari. He actually finds it easier to work on than modern Porsches!
![]() 01/24/2014 at 21:33 |

It's good to have so much info on the maintenance. That should definitely help in the purchase decision. I think the 360 remain slightly lower in price then the R8, but I don't think the 360 is gonna get much lower.
![]() 01/24/2014 at 21:37 |

He gets deals on parts too. There are ways to find them cheaper.
If I was willing to give up the 6MT (I know I'd get so much hate) then I could get a 360 for $45K! I've seen them that low with about 45000 miles on them.
![]() 01/24/2014 at 21:38 |
|
At that point I'd get a Gallardo! But if you did, I wouldn't talk to you for quite awhile.
![]() 01/24/2014 at 22:10 |

Don't worry you won't have to get mad. I'm so sick right now I think I'm dying. I could barely get any work done today. All I could do is use Oppo to pass the time.
I think I have the plague. Haven't been this sick in YEARS
![]() 01/24/2014 at 22:16 |

Don't die! You're quite entertaining to talk to. In the meantime, I will be taking your cars for the weekend.
![]() 01/24/2014 at 22:37 |

Haha thanks. If you lived in CA it would be easier to steal them :)
As long as I'm able to eat again before I die of malnutrition I'll be ok!
![]() 01/24/2014 at 22:45 |

Ok good! We wouldn't want those cars to go "missing" unexpectedly after your untimely death, would we?

Haha
It's such a nice day here. Sunny and just a little wind. It would be a great day to go driving. But that is not possible in this state

Wow just a little different!
It was in the 70s here. We've had way more hot winter days than normal. Looks like climate change is a real thing ...

Here in Albany, it's permanent depressing overcast, or snow. Nothing else.
![]() 01/25/2014 at 22:07 |

You should go door to door at your dorm and ask girls if they want to come cuddle.
Get some cookies and blankets. It's bound to work!

I lol'd. I can picture myself doing that and it would be hilarious. Not everyone has BMW and Porsche keys on their keyring to show off!
![]() 01/25/2014 at 22:18 |

Haha that helps way less than you would think.
Those brands are dude magnets. I think Ferrari, Lambo and Alfa would be better for attracting girls.
![]() 01/25/2014 at 22:20 |

I'll bet you some serious money that if you asked 10 hot girls if they knew what Alfa Romeo is, none of them would have any idea what you're talking about.
![]() 01/25/2014 at 22:25 |

Haha probably true
But despite that I bet the 8C would be a TOTAL chuck magnet

Oh hell yeah! The sound alone would drop the panties.

I know :(
They are so rare
![]() 01/25/2014 at 23:02 |

It's a good thing they're really bad at being cars or else I'd be extra sad at the price. Also, you should buy this .
![]() 01/26/2014 at 00:06 |

Omg don't tempt me
I think about buying that car or a regular TR sometimes.
But the engine out service costs freak me out!
A car like the F430 is relatively cheap to maintain.
Did you see Ferrari's recent free maintenance plan for new cars? I forget the details. I think it's like 2 or 3 years and unlimited miles.
It tempts me to get a new one some day and DD it. I would drive it to Vegas and SF all the time just to rack up the miles and cost Ferrari as much as possible!
![]() 01/26/2014 at 00:09 |
|
Isn't it like 7 years? You should buy one, and try to get it to set itself on fire before the loan is finished being paid.
![]() 01/26/2014 at 00:18 |
|
Haha I'd rather not have a fire!
You're right it is 7 years. I had looked it up a long time ago and I thought only the warranty was for 7 years but maintenance was for less time.
I looked it up again and couldn't find anything about a catch. Hmm
7 years is pretty damn awesome!
![]() 01/26/2014 at 09:09 |
|
I know right? It should be standard on cars that expensive.
![]() 01/26/2014 at 13:03 |
|
I hope Lambo offers it soon.
Ferrari's motivations are interesting. When BMW first started their program it was because their reliability had gone down and they were worried about losing sales.
Ferrari's sales were just fine before they introduced this program. Their cars have never been the most reliable and cheap to maintain. But people buy they anyway cause they just after them. And their reliability had actually been going up, not down, when this program was launched.
I think they did it to attract more new car sales. Unlike larger automakers with tons of large dealerships Ferrari can't stock a ton of used cars. A lot of used Ferraris are sold by small dealers and Ferrari gets no cut of that.
![]() 01/26/2014 at 13:07 |
|
It's interesting how the coverage is transferred between owners, so in 7 years you can buy one with some coverage left!
![]() 01/26/2014 at 13:15 |
|
Oh yeah that's true. So they still lose out when someone buys a slightly used car.
But at least they create less motivation to buy cars that are roughly 1.5 generations old or older. Which happen to be the ones that are at the bottom of their depreciation curve and are therefore the best deals (at least until they are super old and start going up in value).
![]() 01/26/2014 at 13:17 |
|
Yeah that is true. It looks like everyone (except Ferrari) wins!
![]() 01/26/2014 at 13:20 |
|
Oh no they always win. They just make us feel like we are winning so we buy :)
It's so much cheaper and easier to buy a C7. But a dolled up FIAT is so damn sexy that it makes us want to get a loan to spend $300K on a 458 Spider in non metallic blue!
![]() 01/26/2014 at 13:27 |
|
That blue! C7's are great cars for the price, but Ferrari charges so much because they can!
![]() 01/26/2014 at 13:33 |

It's the same reason models act bitchy - cause they can
![]() 01/26/2014 at 13:37 |

Ha! perfect example.
